A Complete 180

The school calendar comes to an end June 24th, as we arrive at day 180.

Tomorrow is the last day of the first grade for our 6 and 7 year olds.

We will meet together for an hour in the morning, then the doors fly open and out they go for the summer…taking with them all that they have learned.

We’ve learned plenty this year; more from each other than from any textbook or test.

We have become strong, confident, and fluent readers and we know that if we can read, we can do anything.

We have grown in to accomplished writers with the ability to express our opinion in creative and imaginative ways, realizing that our opinion matters.

We have learned how to add and subtract; and how to give more than we take.

We have learned how to count money and how to tell time.  We have learned how to make the best use of our time.

In addition, we have discovered the science of plants and animals and have become more conscious about the world in which we live.  We know that it is our responsibility to become  productive and contributing members of society.

Most importantly…we have learned to respect ourselves and each other.  We have learned to appreciate the value of working together as a team.  We are the class of 2022.

We’ve all grown, and we’ve done it together.

No one should stand alone, waiting for superman.

Education is changing.

We’re changing too; that’s what I call learning.

Learning to do a complete 180.
