Forgiveness… my Favorite Eff word.

Raise your hand if you ever needed to ask for forgiveness.

Use that same hand to pat yourself on the back if you’ve gifted forgiveness.

Accept the apology;  keep your heart open.

How to Use:

Diffuse, inhale directly, or apply topically.

Use generously.  Use often.  Give freely.

It’s Okay to be Uncomfortable.

Yes; we oily fanatics get sick too.
I find it a challenge to accept being sick in any way; it proves that I’m human and that’s the tough part to accept when you’re a self-diagnosed Type A. (Yes, self-diagnosed and there isn’t one of my friends that would debate that label).
For the past 3-4 days, I’ve finally been getting my health back 100%. Being sick (with even a simple common cold)  puts life in perspective.
The big picture (chronic illness, or a life-altering diagnosis) makes a few sniffles, sore throat, congestion, and sinus issues seem just as they are: so minor.  Inconvenient at the most. Humbling at the least.
Recovering from the occasional health issue takes time (yes even for us oilers). The good news is, the time is surely shortened with those bitty bottles of nature’s goodness.
In this ‘hurry-up-fix-it world’ I could’ve easily reached for any OTC quick cure to help me get through the work days and the restless nights; yet because I know that sometimes a body just has to work though things, I chose to go with the natural flow.
I listened to my body, upped my daily oil regime, added more fluids, slowed down a bit (ouch), and hit the snooze button a few days in a row (without the guilt of a typical Type A).
I wanted no side effects, no toxins, no quick fix cover up that would trick my body in to doing more than it should’ve.  I had to feel the discomfort to realize that my body was talking to me and to know that I had to listen.
I don’t like not feeling 100% (who does)? I’ve got sh#t to do (who doesn’t)?
What I’ve learned (and continue to learn) is that sometimes we have to give our body time to work through things, not rush it because we don’t have patience for it or because it’s uncomfortable or inconvenient to OUR day, our errands, or OUR plan.
Here is the point of my sharing this story with you…
It is the same with our physical being as it is with our spiritual health.
We (yes, us type A people too) simply have to let things run their course.
What I’m continuing to learn is that sometimes we have to sit in the UNcomfortableness to grow from the experience.  We can remind ourselves that this too shall pass (in its own time), and learn from what our body (and our soul) are trying to tell  teach us.

…in fact often it starts with “faking it until you make it”.

The natural state of our brain is joy.

We don’t always feel joyful or even grateful.

Appreciating and embracing all of life’s experiences (the good and the uncomfortable) takes practice, patience, and perspective.  experience

Let your Light Shine. Safely.

I used to keep a cluster of those store-bought candles around the house; they don’t go bad you know.  <note sarcasm>

I’d be sure to run to the mall and grab them on sale…you know the store, you can smell it before you even walk in and grab that basket you’re about to fill up with lotions and potions.  Oh!  And that ‘buy two get one free’ sale?   It hooked me every. single. time.

I had a collection alphabetically organized in the linen closet that decorated our home for every possible occasion.  My arsenal ranged  from seasonal candy cane scented wicks at Christmas time to pumpkin spice as a mandatory gateway to welcome fall.

I hoarded candles that smelled like clean laundry, watermelon, fresh-cut grass, vanilla cupcakes, and even fresh-frying bacon.  How could that not be healthy?  <note continued sarcasm>

Then, I started questioning the benefits of those bargains I was collecting.

Curious what I discovered about those store-bought candles? Read this.

Take your shoes off; it’s good for your soul.

Tuesday2's Blog

If you watch young children, they will show you how to get comfortable.

They sit on the floor in positions that can often be defined by a specific yoga pose; they don’t know that, they only know it feels natural, restful, and secure.

They walk barefoot; it’s an instinct,  we call it Earthing.

Earthing is a movement built upon the theory that connecting with the natural energy from the Earth can improve your well-being.

“Nature can do more

than physicians.”

Why that Smell brings up Memories.

I’ve always been a very emotional being; if you ask my best friend about this, she will tell you WE are the norm; we simply don’t have the ability to to stop our feelings from showing on our face.
Crying comes very easily to me; I often mask my fragile ability to control those emotions with humor. …that can be exhausting and it leads to a physical body filled up with stuck feelings.
I know that feeling is what we humans do.  I also know that emotions are simply our bodies energy in motion.  (E-motion).   Emotions ARE supposed to move in and out of our body.
So, how do we help our emotions travel while using them to better understand our bodies reaction and response to those sometimes overwhelming moments?
First, we need to realize that the strongest link to our emotional being is our sense of smell.
“Have you ever walked outside and caught a scent of something in the air that sparks memories or carries you back to your childhood? Perhaps you’ve had someone walk by or stand next to you in the elevator and wondered why you thought of your favorite aunt? How about walking in a room to smell fresh baked chocolate chip cookies in the oven and remember how you would help your mom bake cookies on special occasions?
Wonder why?

Your sense of smell is your most primal sense and it exerts surprising influence over your thoughts, emotions, moods, memories, and behaviors. Aromatherapy allows you to harness the olfactory power of plants, using their essential oils to enhance your physical and emotional health. Essential oils have been scientifically shown to be particularly helpful with <occasional> stress, mood, sleep, pain, nausea, memory, and energy.

You may be wondering how essential oils work. Because smells are carried directly to the brain, they serve as emotional triggers. The limbic system evaluates the sensory stimuli, registering pleasure, pain, danger or safety. This then creates and ultimately directs our emotional response, which can include feelings of fear, anger, depression and attraction. Our basic emotions and hormonal balance are in response to the most basic smells. This makes scents very powerful in our day-to-day lives because they’re a direct pathway to memory and emotion — which is why they <can offer support for our emotional well being>.

A certain fragrance can evoke memories and emotions before we are even consciously aware of it. When smells are concerned, we react first and think later. All other physical senses are routed through the thalamus, which acts as the switchboard for the brain, passing stimuli onto the cerebral cortex (the conscious thought center) and other parts of the brain. Essential oils <support our ability> to access stored or forgotten memories and suppressed emotions so that we can acknowledge and integrate or release them.

The word ‘emotion’ can translate as ‘energy-in-motion.’ Emotion is the experience of energy moving through our bodies. This emotional energy actually works at higher speed than thought. Thought and images can take seconds or minutes to evoke a memory while an aroma can evoke a memory in milliseconds.”    ~via Urban Balance (edited info)

What does all this mean?

We can’t always control our feelings, nor should we try to fight them; we should feel them and learn how to understand their message.

Feeling the message our body is sending reminds us that we are alive; we are meant to feel life.   Our sense of smell is the strongest bridge to those feelings.

Emotions aren’t tangible, they can be visible though… to the open mind, the physical body, and to the teary-eyed.

Spice up that Morning Coffee!

We know that drinking (or smelling or simply holding) a cup coffee can lower our bodies frequency.

…..“In one study the doctors took two young men who had a 66-hertz frequency. One held coffee and his frequency dropped to 58 in 3 seconds. The other gentleman drank it and his frequency dropped to 52 in 3 seconds.”

If you’re not familiar with that study (or aware of the value of that information) hit up Google and read all about BODY FREQUENCY.

Why the Beach makes us Happy.

“Places like waterfalls and beaches where negative ions are naturally produced can have a negative ion concentration of up to 10,000 negative ions per cubic centimeter whereas busy cities can have negative ion levels as low as 100 ions per cubic centimeter.”
